I received a call back from my source, connection, phantom friend, or whatever it is I have with the Moose. There are two players who have been told they are a good chance to go tomorrow. I believe it's Florida but contingent on Vokoun moving. Guess that means one is Schneider right?

If Vokoun is moved and Florida is clearing house, changing the guard, rebuilding or doing whatever it is the ownership has decided to do then let's investigate what they might be taking from Vancouver.

Corey Schneider will be the new Luongo in Florida seeing a lot of pucks and a lot of ice and not much help. This does not help the Canucks from a cap point of view but right now it is really hard to tell where the Canucks stand in the cap world with all the injuries they have. If Bieksa and Mitchell are done then it stands to reason that there is approximately 2 million in cap space all total. This is purely speculative on my part as the whole cap is a daily adjusted figure.

I think the target out of Florida is either Ballard or Seidenberg. Either way I feel Gillis has to give up something else that Florida wants and I'm not sure he wants to do one of three things, a first rounder, a roster player or a top prospect in either Grabner or Hodgson. This makes me think that Shirokov has been mentioned in talks and Raymond is the roster player. All this is too much for Seidenberg but it may be in the arena for Ballard and another.

Gillis does not have to shed that much space to take Seidenberg and that makes me wonder if the deal is for Ballard. His 4.2 million cap hit is big but he can provide a big presence on a team far more defensively and systems sound like Vancouver.

The real challenge for speculations sake is that we don't know what the letter from Florida ownership really means. Have they decided that it's time to start fresh because management got it wrong last time? Are they doing this to obtain picks or prospects or youth or all three?

Right now I see Gillis focusing on the defensemen on Florida but what if there is a different vision from the GM? As I said before he is not afraid to go big game hunting, it's trying to determine what ammo he is carrying. Will he try to overwhelm with an offer or sneak a shot in to a really susceptible spot.

I think there's a fair bit of talk going on with MG and my instinct and random info and my lone call say it's Florida but who, what and how much is hard to figure out right now.
