- Countdown to hockey… 18 days to World Cup… 32 days to Preds first home preseason game… 45 days to Predators season opener.

- Predators that are on World Cup rosters… Roman Josi - Team Europe. Filip Forsberg, Mattias Ekholm - Team Sweden. Pekka Rinne – Team Finland.

- The hype is starting to really ramp up for the World Cup with captains being announced for the individual teams. I am scratching me head at the exclusion of PK Subban from Team Canada, but that could be a good thing for the Preds as they will get a fully rested PK to participate in the full training camp in Nashville.

- The addition of Jay Bouwmeester (replacing Duncan Keith) to Team Canada over Mark Giordano and Subban is perplexing at best…

- Bovada has their odds posted for the World Cup, Canada is the favorite at 10/11, Russia comes in at 9/2, Sweden at 5/1, Team USA is at 13/2… the bottom four starts with Finland at 14/1, North America at 16/1, Czech Republic at 22/1 and bringing up the rear is Team Europe at 33/1.

- So, it looks like the Las Vegas team will have “Knights” in their name somewhere. The franchise has registered domain names that indicate Desert Knights could be the leader in the clubhouse, but Golden Knights and Silver Knights have also been trademarked… personally, all have a bit of a minor league feel to them.

- Congratulations to Alex Ovechkin who got married about a week ago

- Colorado decided to go the AHL route in hiring Jared Bednar as their head coach. In this case they deserve kudos for not recycling…

- Just when you thought he was gone… after a 41 game suspension, Raffi Torres is back… this time on a PTO for Carolina…

- Brandon Pirri was signed by the Rangers… one year, $1.1 million. Nice pickup…
