The SlapShot Radio road trip is on and the road trippers are ready for our visit to Gila River Arena in Glendale. We had an excellent time last night in Tucson, enjoying a heated AHL game between the Tucson Roadrunners (Arizona's AHL affiliate) and the Ontario Reign (LAKIngs affiliate.)  Tuscon blew a 3-0 lead and a 4-3 lead before finally winning in OT.  Kudos to the Roadrunners staff and especially their game ops crew for the excellent game presentation including a Chuck-A-Puck that happened in the second intermission and their Teddy Bear Toss that littered the ice with furry beasts after the Roadrunners scored their first goal.

It was also great to see Tom Callahan, the voice of the Roadrunners...  longtime Pred fans remember him from his time in Nashville and it was great to see him again.

A few observations on the Westgate area in Glendale.  It is a beautiful area with a surprising amount of things to do, but in talking to a few of the business owners in the area,  they know that their time as successful businesses is limited because of the actions of the Glendale city council.  When the Coyoytes leave,  this area will die.

Every single local I have spoken to has indicated that the business in this area is a serious risk when the Coyotes move to Tempe for new digs, with a government entity that actually lives up to it's word. It s all so unnecessary as the new Coyotes ownership is doing it right.  A solid partnership in Tucson, bulding some great young talent, and reestablishing their ties to the community.  Glendale ahs blown it...  big time.

So, it's time to look at the game tonight as Nashville looks to cure some road woes with a team on a six game losing streak. The Coyotes are floundering and looking for answers, the Predators are looking to get their road act on track.

The good news is that the Predators road wins have come in Colorado and here in Glendale.  These Coyotes are just as desperate as the Stars were Thirdsay so the Preds will have to match their intensity at the start of tonight's matchup.

Game time is 7pm CT...  keep an eye out for a section full of gold,  we will wave hi as we try and bring a little Bridgestone Arena to Arizona.  Coverage on 102.5 the Game and Fox Sports Tennessee.
