Predators Notes

- Development Camp continues today, however there is no on-ice work scheduled. Next ice session is tomorrow morning at 9am.

- Biggest news out of yesterday’s camp session was that Preds blueline prospect Mattias Ekholm is planning on staying in North America this year, probably in Milwaukee.

- Yesterday’s on ice session focused was run by Shawn Allard and his team, working on power skating in a series of technique focused drills. While not exciting to watch, it was interesting to watch which players adapted easily to the drills and which ones struggled.

- Heard from several different sources that talks with pending UFA’s Paul Gaustad and Hal Gill are going well and that deals are expected to happen before July 1.

- Many folks in Pred Nation were hoping for a return of Shane O’Brien… ok, most of ‘em were in the media/blogging community, but still… that hope has been dashed as O’Brien re-upped with Colorado for three years.

Random Notes

- Shane Doan as a free agent… wow, just wow. This could be the biggest fallout from the Coyotes ownership mess.

- Reports are coming out that CBA negotiation are set to begin on Friday.

- The fact that Fred Shero and Pat Burns are still not in the Hockey Hall of Fame is borderline criminal.

- Congratulations to the Class of 2012 or the Hockey Hall of Fame. Particularly happy to see Pavel Bure make it.

- The Bobby Ryan situation is getting to a boiling point in Anaheim… still can’t understand why this is happening like it is… the Ducks have completely mishandled this situation.

- Two new coaches... one announced yesterday, Adam Oates in Washington and one to be announced today, Ralph Krueger in Edmonton.

- Not many people have a day like Adam Oates had yesterday… named head coach of the Capitals, then named to the Hockey Hall of Fame. He’s a good choice for both…
