UPDATE 9:57am CT - The Predators have sent out a press release stating that Frederick Gaudreau was being sent to Milwaukee. Pontus Aberg is also being sent down on a conditioning assignment... I guess we have our answer on Nick Bonino tonight...

-------------------------------

This one has been circled for quite awhile. Like since two minutes after the schedule came out. Smashville gets to roll out the welcome mat for a Stanley Cup rematch. The Pittsburgh Penguins are in town and there is a great deal of excitement in Music City for tonight’s game.

The Predators are looking to build off the three game win streak from the west coast trip and snap a very rare two game home losing streak. When last we saw the Predators on Bridgestone Arena ice, the New York Islanders were in town and the Predators had already packed their bags and left for Cali. Finding their home mojo again will be critical as tonight represents the first of nine home games over the next twelve games of the season. The old fall harvest slogan of “make hay while the sun shines” is very applicable here. Nashville finds themselves in the third slot of the Central Division with a chance to position themselves to challenge St. Louis who is currently leading the division.

Pittsburgh also finds themselves well placed for improving their position. They hit Smashville after dropping a 4-1 decision to Washington last night, an undisciplined affair that saw 12 penalties called. The Pens stand tied in points with the New Jersey Devils at the top of the Metro. Pittsburgh has been an up and down team this season… when they are good, they are very good… when they are bad… well… the score reflects it. Sidneyt Crosby is struggling a bit right now, in the middle of a ten game goal drought and the Pens are 0-4-1 so far in the second of back-to-back

Tonight marks the first game for recent acquisition Kyle Turris, he looks to be slotted in the two hole at center, and we are waiting on a decision to activate Nick Bonino from IR. He has been practicing with the team all through the recent road trip and is reported to be close to return. Voice oif the Penguins, Mike Lange said on Wednesday’s SlapShot Radio that he expects to see him in the lineup as “Bones wouldn’t miss this one.” We will see if Bonino’s body and Preds medical staff agree.

In net, expect Pekka Rinne for the Predators, who has been so good now that it is hard to call this a hot streak. He has really adapted his style to fit his age and the go-go style of the team. He has really reduced his adventures away from the net and has improved positionally. He is playing a more contained game, staying within himself and not trying to do too much. For Pittsuburgh, I am not sure if we see Matt Murray, who took the loss last night in DC, or backup Tristan Jarry.

Game time is 7pm… see you at the Bridge!
