Final Score: Canucks 5 – Blue Jackets 2

Game Summary

The Jackets started this game off well. It was the second half of a back to back but they came out hard, came out fast. They looked like they wanted to put the Buffalo game behind them. They jumped on Vancouver with 11 shots, and a 54.84% Corsi at 5 on 5. They even scored a power play goal.

Seth Jones has been on fire these last two months. Since December the first he has played 21 games. He has five goals and 18 points over that time frame and has averaged 25:15 a night. He has been an absolute workhorse for the Jackets at a time when they need it the most. He is a very deserving all-star.

Everything was looking good, and then the second period happened. The Canucks put up four goals in the period and that was enough. The Canucks scored twice on the power play and again on a long shift in the Blue Jackets zone.

Sergei Bobrovsky just didn’t have it tonight. He was playing well coming into the game. His five games prior to this he had allowed two goals or less. Tonight on the back to back it wasn’t his night.

The Jackets for a slight moment made things interesting in the third. Matt Calvert tipped home a Scott Harrington blast to pull the Jackets within two.

Nick Foligno got the secondary assist on the play his second point of the night. Foligno quietly has four points in his last four games.

The Jackets now have their bye week. They have five days off to hit the reset button and get ready for what is going to be a wild second half. The Jackets need to finish January off strong as February is going to be a grind with divisional game after divisional game. The Jackets play 13 games in February, just three are against non-Metro opponents.
