Final Score: Blue Jackets 7 – Panthers 3

Game Summary

The first period started with that here we go again feeling. The Panthers had a quick start scoring five minutes into the game. The lead did not last long as the Jackets rallied back and took a 2-1 lead thanks to two goals from Josh Anderson.

Anderson is the beneficiary of really nice passing. On the first goal Brandon Dubinsky makes a great pass from behind the net, cross crease to Anderson. Anderson smartly realizes he has a ton of space and patiently waits out James Reimer. On the second, we have Markus Nutivaara embracing the rover position having the puck down by the goal line. Anderson again has time and space, Nutivaara sees him and Anderson rips the one-timer home.

The Panthers tied the game at two under a minute into the second. Markus Hannikainen regained the Jackets lead scoring his first of the season, but the Panther quickly tied it back up with a short-handed goal from Vincent Trocheck. Despite the Panthers keeping the score tight the game never really felt close. The Jackets controlled 60% of the shot attempts in the first two periods. They rebounded from that short-handed goal by immediately scoring on the power play.

Oliver Bjorkstrand just rips this. For a power play that’s been struggling this was good to see.
They got back down to basics get the puck and shoot it on net.
Bjorkstrand was not done there, he scored his second of the period a few minutes later.

On this goal he does everything he wasn’t doing early in the season. He gets taken down, maintains possession of the puck, shakes the defender and skates right into the slot. With four players submerging on him, he keeps his composure and rifles it glove side.

The Jackets added two more goals in the third to take this game 7-3. Tyler Motte continued to play well scoring in his second consecutive game.

And Boone Jenner got his second of the season, tipping this rip by Artemi Panarin.

On top of the goal scoring the Blue Jackets fourth line was outstanding tonight. Pierre-Luc Dubois was playing centre for the first time in the NHL and he crushed it. The fourth line hopefully has earned the trust of the coaching staff after their performance.
