Blue Jackets shocked Buffalo and took Pierre-Luc Dubois third overall passing on Jesse Puljujarvi.

Dubois is a big centre who scored 99 points in the QMJHL. He is a very strong prospect but he is not near the prospect Puljujarvi is. This is a very curious decision, they should have traded down and acquired more picks if they coveted Dubois that bad.

Its finally here the most exciting time of the year! Much like the trade deadline I want to have a space where we can all dissect and talk about the moves the Blue Jackets make. I am in Buffalo and will be in attendance for the both days of the draft. Provided I can get wifi I will update this throughout the night. If not I will still be tweeting ( @PaulBerthelot) so look for my reactions there as well.

So far the big news is the Bob McKenzie reported on TSN 1050 that the Jackets may go off the board with pick three or trade down.

My thoughts on this have been made very clear. Neither of these options is a good one. The Blue Jackets need to stay at three and pick the best player available in Jesse Puljujarvi.

The other big story to follow is that of Seth Jones. The Jackets are getting close to reaching an agreement with the RFA defencemen.

The Blue Jackets are holding a draft party tonight outside of Nationwide Arena, and the special guest is going to be none other than Seth Jones. Wouldn't it be a great start to the night to see him get signed right there?

Report from McKenzie that the Blue Jackets have traded one of their top prospects Sonny Milano. Currently we dont know the return, but this should be a big deal. Milano is not a player you give away.

Follow up from McKenize Milano rumours were not confirmed he is not being traded at this time.
