Jon Ledecky, the honeymoon is over.

Ledecky, along with Scott Malkin, took over majority control from Charles Wang last July has been the public face of the duo. It seems like he has been on campaign trail since July. He has said all the right things, sat with the Blue and Orange Army and reconnected with the alumni, but neglected the most important factor, the team on ice.

The team on the ice has been left to general manager Garth Snow. The transfer of ownership has not affected Snow's power. The most important thing that Ledecky said over the summer was that spending up to the cap would not be an issue. Snow certainly did that to disastrous results.

Andrew Ladd and Jason Chimera have not worked out. Ladd will not be going anywhere for the next six years. Chimera, who is signed for another season, could be move at the deadline to a contender looking to improve their bottom six. The waiving of P.A. Parenteau to free up rosters spots for Mathew Barzal and Anthony Beauvillier also proved to be disastrous. Barzal played a couple of games before being returned to Seattle. Beauvillier, who cannot crack the top 12 on a consistent basis, no fault of his own, should have been returned to juniors and allowed to compete in the World Juniors for Canada. Did I mention that Parenteau has more goals than John Tavares?

That leads me back to Ledecky, who is taking his sweet time evaluating the team. Half of a season is plenty of time to evaluate this mess. If he is waiting for someone already employed to hire as team president or GM or head coach, just hire interims for the remainder of the season.

Playoffs are all but gone for the Islanders. However this season can not be a total waste if Ledecky stops talking and takes action.

In other news, the Islanders have placed defenseman Travis Hamonic on injured reserve. Hamonic suffered a lower-body injury Saturday against Arizona. Scott Mayfield has been recalled. At this point both Mayfield and Adam Pelech should play nightly. Dennis Seidenberg can sit for a game or two.
