The Islanders announced that forward Nikolay Kulemin underwent surgery and will be out six months with an upper-body injury. Kulemin left last Tuesday’s game against the Edmonton Oilers after being checked hard into the board.

The 31-year old scored one goal in 13 games this season and is an unrestricted free agent after the season.
