Hockey is back at Barclays as the Islanders open up their preseason schedule against the Philadelphia Flyers. Don't expect to see a lot of veterans tonight. Due to the World Cup, the league has eliminated the rule requiring eight vets to play in each preseason game.

Ryan Strome, Ryan Pulock, Shane Prince and Eric Boulton will play alonside first-round picks Mathew Barzal, Joshua Ho-Sang, Michael Dal Colle and Anthony Beauvillier.

Jean-Francois Berube and Christopher Gibson will dress tonight. The Islanders play a pair of split-squad games on Tuesday night vs the Flyers and New York Rangers. With Jaroslav Halak and Thomas Greiss playing in the World Cup, Stephon Williams and Eamon McAdam will dress tomorrow night.

Tonight lines:

Prince-Barzal-Quine
Dal Colle-Strome-Ho-Sang
Carter Verhaeghe-Beauvillier-Tanner Fritz
Boulton-Kyle Schempp-Colin Markison

Defensive pairings:

Adam Pelech-Pulock
Parker Wotherspoon-Scott Mayfield
Mitchell Vande Sompel-Loic Leduc

In other news, the team has placed forward Mikhail Grabovski on injured reserve with an upper body injury (retroactive to March 16). Grabovski failed his physical last week.

The team also announced PTOs for Steve Bernier, Connor Jones and Patrick Cullity. Both Jones and Cullity were in Bridgeport last season. We all know how our friend Bernier did last season.
