The NCAA Tournament is right around the corner. I thought it would be a little fun to have an Islanders themed bracket. Garth Snow's reign over the team is well into it's second decade. There have been plenty of moves and non moves. But what's the biggest? I've come up with a 32-themed bracket, divided into four regions of Garth's greatest misses.
The four regions will be named after four head coaches during Garth's tenure, three he hired (Scott Gordon, Jack Capuano and Doug Weight) and three he fired (Ted Nolan, Gordon and Capuano). The moves and non moves in the region did not necessarily happen during that coaches tenure.
Starting tomorrow, voting will be open to decide on Garth's biggest miss. We will start with the Ted Nolan region.
Ted Nolan was hired six weeks before Charles Wang shocked the world by naming Snow general manager. Nolan was fired by Snow after two seasons. Five years later, Nolan returned to coach the Buffalo Sabres for two seasons.

Scott Gordon replaced Nolan in the summer of 2008 and coached two-plus seasons. Gordon was fired in the mist of a ten-game losing streak in 2010-11. He is now the head coach of the Leigh Valley Phantoms of the AHL.

Jack Capuano replaced Gordon on an interim basis during the 2010-11 and won just one game in his first 11 games coached. He became the full time coach following the season and coached five full seasons before being fired in January 2017.
