The Islanders depth at forward is taking a hit as training camp is set to open this week. The team announced that center Alan Quine will miss 4-6 weeks with an upper body injury.

Quine scored 5 goals and 13 assists in 61 games last season. He was slated to be the team's extra forward.

The news comes a month after the team announced that Shane Prince will miss 4-6 months due to ankle surgery.

Don't get too excited Islanders fans, this does not automatically give roster spots to both Mathew Barzal and Anthony Beauvillier, it's not beneficial to their development, see last year. The 13th forward will likely be either Stephen Gionta, Steve Bernier or Connor Jones, all three forwards can sit for periods of times.
