Another day, another location. Newsday is reporting that the Islanders and New York State officials have been in talks to build a new arena at Belmont Park.

The article states that new owners Jon Ledecky and Scott Malkin have met several times in recent months with the New York Racing Association, which runs Belmont Park. The talks, however are in the very early stages.

The site has been up for bidding for the last four years. Previous bidders have included the New York Cosmos soccer team. The Islanders are interested in a 28-acre portion of the park's south parking lot.

This report come a day after Bloomberg reported that the team have had talks with the Wilpon family about building a new arena next to Citi Field in Flushing.

We all know there's an opt-out clause following the Islanders' fourth season at Barclays. One report on a new location sounds like a ploy to have Barclays cater more to the Islanders needs. Ledecky told the media and fans last week that more needs to be done in the arena. A second report on another location seems like the team is gone first chance they get. We do know how quickly things get built in New York. But a return to Nassau would be a dream come true for Isles fans.

In other news, the team has re-signed forward Eric Boulton to a one-year, two-way deal. The 39-year-old will get a guarantee of $200K and will get $575K if Boulton is up with the Islanders.

Boulton will assume Matt Carkner's role in Bridgeport, as a player/mentor to the young Sound Tigers. Carkner's mentored defensemen Ryan Pulock, Adam Pelech and Scott Mayfield the last couple of seasons and is now an assistant coach. Boulton will mentor and protect incoming forwards Michael Dal Colle and Joshua Ho-Sang.
