ESPN’s Craig Custance reports Dallas defenseman Johnny Oduya is expected to play in two of the next three games before the March 1 trade deadline.

THE BUZZ – With Michael Stone and Ron Hainsey being moved for draft picks late this week, Stars GM Jim Nill is looking to get a return for Oduya, who won a Stanley Cup with the Blackhawks.

The Stars have already started unloading their rentals, trading Patrick Eaves to Anaheim on Friday. With Oduya’s resume, it is likely that Dallas will get a better return than the Canes got for Hainsey, who has no playoff experience.

Penguins GM Jim Rutherford indicated on Sportsnet’s Hockey Central that he may consider making a move for another defenseman after acquiring Ron Hainsey from Carolina “if it makes some sense” and said that the trade status of goalie Marc-Andre Fleury is fluid.

“We talk in generalities about different situations and that’s really as far as we’ve gotten. I would suspect by the time Monday comes or Tuesday comes, (Fleury) may be more direct in exactly what he wants. We’ll work with him as to what makes sense for both him and the Penguins.”

THE BUZZ – With Trevor Daley and Olli Maatta out for up to six weeks and Justin Schultz coming off a concussion, it is likely that the Pens will try to add another blueliner, but it will have to be someone they can fit into their salary structure unless Fleury’s $5.5 Million cap hit can be moved.

Matt Murray will be the go-to guy in the playoffs barring any injury problems and Rutherford pointed out that Fleury was a good teammate that did not rock the boat last season, but he wants to play in Pittsburgh or someplace else.
