The Toronto Maple Leafs and restricted free agents Peter Holland and Frank Corrado have reached a settlement on one-year deals prior to their arbitration hearings.

The 25-year-old Holland scored nine goals and 18 assists in 65 games with the Leafs was scheduled for a hearing on Monday. Holland submitted an offer for $2.1 Million (nearly triple the amount of the $775,000 he made the last two seasons), while Toronto countered with a slight raise of $900,000.

Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman reports that the two sides settled on a $1.3 Million one-way deal for 2016-17.

The Leafs could not walk away from Holland's deal even if the arbitrator had accepted Holland’s salary demand, since it was well under the amount determined by the current CBA, but it is possible that with a settlement reached, Holland could be traded if his being placed on waivers last week attracted any bites from other NHL clubs.

The 23-year-old Corrado scored a goal and five assists in 39 games for the Leafs and made $632,500/$67,500 on a two-way deal last season. The Toronto native was asking for a $900,000 one-way deal, while the Leafs countered with the league minimum $575,000 on one-way deal or a $625,000/$150,000 two-way.

The two sides settled on a one-year, one-way deal for $600,000.

Reports out of Sweden indicate that the Leafs have interest in free agent goaltender Jhonas Enroth. The 28-year-old was drafted by the Buffalo Sabres in 2006 and showed that he could handle more than the traditional 15 to 20 game duties of a backup goalie.

In 2014-15, Enroth split duties with Michal Neuvirth in Buffalo and played so well that GM Tim Murray had to deal the pending UFA to prevent the Sabres from not finishing 30th overall and having the best odds at winning the NHL Draft Lottery.

Enroth finished the year with Dallas and signed as a free agent with Los Angeles last summer, but only played in 16 games as the backup to Jonathan Quick.

The Stockholm native has experience facing foes in the Atlantic Division from his long tenure with Buffalo and would make a fine addition as the backup to Frederik Andersen, but there has been no indications from the Leafs of interest in the Swedish netminder.

If Toronto does not go in the direction of a free agent such as Enroth, it is possible that they will trade for a netminder. The goaltending market is expected to be soft with the upcoming expansion draft, which could mean swapping an excess forward for another club's backup.
