As the Maple Leafs are closing out their Prospect Camp in Etobicoke, ON with a full 60 minute/3 period scrimmage this morning, it may be the last time that anyone sees the Blue and White playing for a long while.

The Toronto Sun's Terry Koshan is reporting that the Leafs will not be participating in a rookie tournament this fall because of the uncertainty of a labor agreement being reached between the league and the Players Association.

This is by no means a guarantee that there will be a lockout, but it does signal to the fans that there is not a lot of optimism that training camps and the regular season will be starting on time.

The Pittsburgh Penguins have signed center Philippe Dupuis signed a one year/two way contract.

The 27 year old Dupuis was the poster child for the Maple Leafs bad penalty killing in the first half of the 2011-12 season and was demoted to the AHL in early January after scoring no points in 30 games.

He did play very well with the Marlies throughout the remainder of the season, scoring 15 goals and 16 assists in 42 games and 14 points in Toronto's post-season run to the Calder Cup Final.

With youngsters Brad Ross, Greg McKegg, Jamie Devane and Kenny Ryan likely done with junior and/or ready to take the next step in their pro careers, re-signing a veteran like Dupuis to take a spot on the Marlies did not make much sense.
