The trade watch has now begun for Leafs Nation now that the All Star Break is in the rear view mirror. Just to get our blood pumping, former Leafs assistant GM and player agent Bill Watters tweeted a rumor of a megadeal between the Leafs and Blue Jackets.
Here is one to smoke on…please don’t inhale….From Columbus, Rick Nash and Kristian Huselius, From Toronto, Luke Schenn, Mikhail Grabovski, Mike Komisarek and Nazem Kadri.
Based on the great respect I have for Watters and the knowledge that he is well connected in the league, I give this rumor credibility.
Watters further indicated that the cap numbers on this deal are practically even. Here is the breakdown:
Nash = $7.8 Million through 2017-18
Huselius = $4.5 Million through 2011-12(UFA)(out till mid February with groin injury)
Total : $12.3 Million
Vs
Grabovski = $2.9 Million through 2011-12(UFA)
Schenn = $3.6 Million through 2015-16
Kadri = $1.72 Million through 2012-13
Komisarek = $4.5 Million through 2013-14
Total : $12.7 Million
