The Kings have finally confirmed the worst kept secret (ah, the age of internet superhighway), the Kings have signed Stanley Cup Champion D-man Rob Scuderi to a four year 3.4 million dollar per year contract.

Scuderi, a Syosset New York born, who was drafted in the 5th round in 1998 had played 5 seasons for the Pens, garnering 3 goals, 36 assists and a +13.

Primarily a defensive and penalty kill specialist, he joins a young defensive core that includes Drew Doughty, Matt Green, Jack Johnson, Kyle Quincey, Davis Drewiskie and Peter Harrold.

Hope to get a Lombardi Quote soon...

But what does this mean? He's not a "banger" like Gauthier was and does this mean Hickey and Voinov are Manchester bound this season? Can Lombardi dump Preissing? Will Lombardi now use Johnson or Quincey as trade bait?

Scuderi certainly impressed everyone during the playoffs, but 3.4 million for another Matt Greene seems a bit pricey.

Fan favorite Kevin Westgarth inked a 3 year deal as well - terms were not disclosed. The 25 year old is listed at 6 foot 5 241 pounds, and last season dropped the gloves 18 times (17 in Manchester, 1 in the NHL)
