Oilers Continue To Make Deals |

The Oilers continue their series of blockbuster deals by jettisoning former draft pick Ryan Martindale and AHL vet Derek Nesbitt to the Panthers organization in exchange for Steve Pinizzotto and Jack Combs.
This deal is clearly a minor league move with intentions of making the Barons better moving forward. No player in the deal appears to have much of an NHL future but Pinizzotto did play in 12 games for the Canucks last season in which he amassed 0 goals and 0 assists for a grand total of 0 points.
The other 3 parts of the deal were all undrafted but Martindale was a 3rd Round pick, 61st Overall in the 2010 entry draft. Martindale is still young, just 22 years old, and has a 6’3” frame. He has the tools but has seemingly never been willing or able to compete day in and day out with them. This is the 2nd day in a row where the Oilers have admitted defeat with a formerly drafted and developed player.
The two most interesting aspects of this deal are thus:
1) Jack Combs’ NHL player page is so empty that it is barely confirms that he is in fact alive.
2) This trade was broken last night by none other than Ryan Whitney
