Fantasy – Top 30 Goaltenders

Goaltender rankings are tricky as there are always battles going on between 1A and 1B tenders. It can even be more complex than that, just look at Winnipeg with three goalies that could all see NHL ice time this season in Pavelec, Hutchinson and their future goalie in Hellebuyck.

Between the battles that take place, injuries that occur and slumps that are hit, goalies can be what makes or breaks your team in some fantasy formats.

I find it’s always very important to have at least one really good goalie you can count on to secure you consistently decent stats and of course get you wins. Wins are important; it automatically increases your chance at a shutout, as well as lower goals against average (usually). Save percent is a different story as some goalies like Schneider may not rack up a ton of wins, but should have an exceptional save percent as the Devils were a team that gave up a lot of shots in past seasons.

The list I’ve provided ranks the top thirty goaltenders in the NHL, for fantasy hockey. The categories I use to rank my goalies include save percentage, goals against average, wins and shutouts. So if your fantasy setup includes shots, or is just based on wins/shutouts, make sure you adjust accordingly.
