This is based off of yesterday's post, but I want to learn a little bit more about what fans think of Rick Jeanneret.

If you haven't heard, the Sabres play-by-play man will return for another season behind the microphone come October. When I first received the news, I was relieved to hear that RJ would be back, but I know not everyone feels the same way.

Jeanneret has been a part of the Sabres organization for over 40 years and I enjoy hearing him broadcast games. I think the biggest reason I want him to continue calling them is because I want to hear him call the Stanley Cup winning game, but who knows how long that could take.

As much as I support Jeanneret and am happy he's returning, I'll be the first to admit that he's been slipping a bit, but so what? He's 70 years old and he's the voice I heard during Sabres games ever since I started watching.

I understand why some fans dislike his play calling and overly excited moments, but that's who he is. He's always been that way. Jeanneret has become a homer, but it's like that for most of the announcers. I can't imagine how difficult it is to remain neutral after you've been following a team for 40 years.

Over the past couple of years, it seems as if Jeanneret has made more errors in the booth and slipups during the game, but it doesn't bother me. He's even messed up a few calls, such as Mikhail Grigorenko's goal.

If I weren't a Sabres fan, I'm not sure I would like listening to Jeanneret either. But, for those non-Sabres fans that don't like him, how different would it be were he announcing for your team?

People have asked me why he has been inducted into the hall of fame, and why he is appreciated so much in Buffalo.

Jeanneret's been a huge part of Sabres hockey almost since the first existence of the team, and he has a large impact on the community.

As Sabres fans, are you glad Jeanneret is back?
As non-Sabres fans, I ask the same question, and what is your view on him from an opposing team standpoint?

Please leave a comment on what you think of RJ. I will highlight some in my next post. Post in the comment section or fill out the form below (serious submissions only, please).

Thanks for reading!
