What's the plan, Darcy?

There's a whole lot of nothing going on and this is the one month of the year it's tough to come up with material to write about. I don't want to continually post if there really isn't anything to inform you about.

The Sabres hired a coach from Harvard, the contract talks with Hodgson don't seem to be going as well as planned, and Miller sounds less confident about playing here. You already know all of that, but they are all things Sabres fans should be paying attention to. There's still time to sort things out, but I hope Darcy Regier and the rest of the organization know what they are doing.

Things will be a bit different on Hockeybuzz come September. I plan on posting more frequently and really getting back into the swing of things. Plus, as the season gets closer, there will be more and more to discuss. Looking forward to all of that happening.

I must say I really like how the new captain patches will look. While we don't know who will wear them, they should make for a nice addition to the jerseys.

For you gamers out there, I downloaded the NHL 14 demo on PS3 and have to say that I like the improvements. I usually do, but I find the checking and fighting much more realistic this year. I was surprised to see that when I delivered a huge check on the other team's captain, his teammates retaliated and dropped the gloves immediately. It's not something we've seen the Sabres do, but I did like that a lot.

The biggest difference I noticed were the hits. Players fell more awkwardly and different than in past years, which is a good thing. The only other thing I noticed was the change in font on the game clock. I only played for about 10 minutes, but I'll end up buying the game when it comes out in a few weeks, even though I play less and less every year.

36 days until Sabres hockey.

As always, thank you for reading!
