John Scott on the first line

Someone asked me earlier in the season if the Sabres have hit rock bottom. After Miller was traded, I said yes. After the recent losing streak, I said yes again...but I was wrong.

After watching tonight's game against Nashville, I'm saying that this, right now, is rock bottom. Not only because it was a embarrassing blowout to the Predators. It's because John Scott made it to the first line.

That, and the fact that Ville Leino was benched, but apparently didn't want to admit it. According to John Vogl, Ted Nolan said Ville Leino left with light-headedness. Vogl asked Ville what happened, and he just kept walking to bus.

Leino finished the night with 58 seconds of ice time, and it's my guess that he was told he was done for the night. He was said to have an upper-body injury and was feeling light-headed.....

Leino is going to be bought out, but if he does have an injury, or becomes injured in the next nine games, it really will become a nightmare for Buffalo.

“It’s just one of those things (that) in order to rebuild and to retool, you rebuild and retool with the right people, and it’s never changed from 20 years ago to today,” Nolan said. “You need the right people with the right makeup with the right character with the right drive and ambition. You don’t just show up.” - Ted Nolan

It was obvious that Nolan was upset with the first period especially, as he should have been.

"It was very disheartening & very discouraging the way the guys came out. They didn’t even come out to play in that first period." - Nolan

It was nice to see someone drop the gloves and do something. At least Nicolas Deslauriers was willing to fight.

Still, I would have liked to seen some more physical play from Buffalo, as Brad May mentioned during intermission.

Overall, it was another embarrassing loss. Nine more games to go.

As always, thank you for reading!
