Can't let any more games slip away

These next two games are big for Buffalo. The Sabres are finishing up the road trip in Philadelphia and then hosting the Rangers on Tuesday. Both of those teams are battling for playoff spots. A regulation win tonight could move the Sabres up to 11th in the Eastern Conference, with some help from other teams of course.

New Jersey is the team to catch as of right now, but that may all be different after tonight's games. The Devils host Winnipeg tonight, so it could be the Rangers, Devils or Jets occupying that 8th spot after tonight.

I know that the Sabres playoff chances are unlikely, but I'm trying to look at it point wise. They are six points out right now, and a small winning streak could get them right back in this race.

The Sabres need to pass six teams in order to get in the top eight. Columbus just put together a winning streak, and the Sabres are close to falling to dead last in the entire league.

Buffalo needs to find a way to get at least five points out of six this week. I would say that they have some tough games coming up, but it doesn't matter who they play. Every single game is a challenge.

The Sabres have been playing better, so at least that is something. They started the 2nd half of the season by earning a point, although it could have easily been two. If the Sabres can find a way to put another point or winning streak together, they can get back into the playoff race.
