Much-maligned and now banished Montreal Center, Scott Gomez.

Hearing this AM the Hawks have had some conversation with his agent about a possible one year deal.

Let me say this: as a depth, potential lightning in a bottle move, meh, why not—for minimal dollars?

Remember, the Hawks brought in Brendan Morrison on an audition last year. And there was a time (three, four, five years ago?) when Gomez was a very good playmaking center in the NHL. He's now 33 and coming off some injuries—but stranger things have happened.

Look for a blog tonight or tomorrow on the performance of GM Stan Bowman.
