KESLER
Solid source out of Canada told me this morning the Hawks made an offer for Ryan Kesler yesterday, including (possibly) Bryan Bickell, Nick Leddy, and Mark McNeill. The source tells me that (for obvious reasons) it is unlikely the Canucks will deal Kesler to Chicago.
DEFENSEMEN
Rumors continue to swirl that the Hawks are interested in Islander defenseman Andrew McDonald. Two other names that have arisen: Calgary’s Kris Russell and Florida’s Dmitry Kullkov.
LADD
Same source out of Canada tells me the Hawks continue to sniff around Andrew Ladd.
BICKELL
If the Hawks make any kind of deal for a significant player (ie with significant salary), you can bet it will involve Bickell going the other way.
One team that I’m told “covets” Bickell is Anaheim. But for much the same reasons a Kesler deal is unlikely, so would that deal seem to be not very workable (to a contending team in the same conference).
DEVILS
The Hawks have been scouting New Jersey heavily. Source tells me they could be interested in Bryce Salvador, Jacob Josefson, Jaromir Jagr or . . . and I have heard this going back to the summer from more than one source . . . Martin Brodeur.
EVANDER KANE
Separate source telling me there is a rather long list of teams that have deemed the Winnipeg power forward “not worth the trouble.” While I have not heard this specifically, bet the Hawks are on that list.
More as I have it,
