Heard from a Hawk source late yesterday on the team's activity leading up to the draft—and some clarification on some earlier rumors arrived this morning.
From the top:
The Hawks are having a lot of discussions with a lot of teams—they have spoken with Las Vegas, Vancouver, Tampa Bay, Philadelphia, Carolina, Colorado, and Buffalo in recent days/weeks.
As of yesterday, no players had been approached about waiving clauses or giving a list of teams. "Everything is purely discussion at this point."
I finally got some clarity (from a source I trust) around what happened with regard to Corey Crawford and Scott Darling—which I misread and briefly misreported on my message board thread this AM.
I was told definitively Crawford was never actually asked for a list of teams he would accept a trade to. Rather, there was a conversation between the team, the player and his agent, in which the player expressed a strong interest in remaining in Chicago. end of discussion.
I've heard some other, slightly, but not completely different things from sources I don't know as well, so I will go with the above.
As far as moves to anticipate:
"Things will heat up post playoffs."
"This team will have a different make up (when the season starts)."
All for now.
