Meditations On Nothingness

It's quiet.

Eerily quiet, as Hawk fans await the "one move" the Hawks will make to get under the salary cap and possibly shore themselves up somehow (without taking on more cap obligation and defeating the purpose) for the 2014-15 season.

Meanwhile, the Hockey News has installed the Hawks as early favorites to win the Stanley Cup (beating Tampa Bay). Meh.

And many Hawk fans turn their thoughts to the Bears, Jorge Soler, or the Sox trading Adam Dunn. I don't know about any of you, but none of that is filling the void for me.

So there's not much, or really any Hawk news, beyond the announcement of the roster for the upcoming Rookie Tournament (September 13-16, in London, ON, with rookies, prospects and tryouts from the Leafs, Pens, Hawks and Senators), featuring bigger names like Teravainen, Johns, Danault and McNeill, balanced with even bigger names like Swindlehurst (belonging to a dude from England who played last year for the Dundee Stars in a league called the EIHL).

So, as always, beware the hype.

A Hawk prospect or two could really light it up, but the competition level here is probably not quite that of the World Juniors (for example). In fact, the Welychkas, Swindlehursts, Van Stralens and Gotovets(s), pretty much balance out the names you actually recognize.

I'm not sure of the tv options for the tourney. But I'll bet dollars to donuts, my guys at hockey streams.com will have them, and in (to quote Joakim Noah) "that nice HD."

Link below.

All I have for now,
