Quick update on a couple of situations:
Heard this evening that the Hawks have an unofficial hiring freeze in force and may have let go of a few employees-all this in anticipation of an extended labor issue. While the ongoing labor talks are far from nuclear, a lot of signs are pointing to some kind of lockout for some period of time.
This would also seem to point to the Hawks' roster being set for whenever the season actually begins.
Also heard from another source who spoke recently with an NHL player close to Zack Parise and Ryan Suter—with some insight on the Hawks' pursuit of both players. I will have more on this in the next couple of days.
