Lightning Make it Two Preseason Wins in a Row

The Tampa Bay Lightning won their second consecutive preseason game last night after defeating the Nashville Predators 3-1 at home.

Although a win is always appreciated, that is not the big story to come out of last night's contest. The Bolts saw the return of both Steven Stamkos and Ryan Callahan after they missed a majority of last season with injuries. Stamkos did not waste any time as he created a goal on his first shift, providing the pass for Victor Hedman's one-timer. Later on in the game, provided another assist, this time with Nikita Kucherov on the receiving end. Callahan also contributed to the scoring efforts as he provided the assist on Yanni Gourde's goal. Of course, one cannot get carried away with one preseason game. However, both Stamkos and Callahan had solid outings which can only leave the Lightning optimistic about the season to come.

In his first season as Tampa's true number one goalie, Andrei Vasilevskiy appeared to be in mid-season form last night. He put a stop to a couple of breakaway opportunities by the Predators and stopped 29 of the 30 shots that came his way.

The Lightning will look to keep things rolling when they take on the Florida Panther at AMALIE Arena on Sunday.
