Anaheim Looking to Hit Reset Button

The Anaheim Ducks are a team capable of making the postseason in the Spring of 2018...

Though, as of right now, they sure do not look like it...

It is hard to put much weight on the first month of the hockey season. There are teams who are playing way past the expectations bestowed upon them and there are teams who are just not showing their full potential just yet.

For the Ducks, it has been the latter to this point. After six games, Anaheim finds themselves with a 2-3-1 record, suffering losses at the hands of teams such as the Buffalo Sabres and Colorado Avalanche.

Now there are plenty of factors that are playing a role in the Ducks slow start, health being a major one as the team has already had plenty of key players sidelined due to injury. An inability to score can also be mentioned as the team has only managed to score over two goals twice.

No matter what the reasons may be, it is safe to say that Anaheim needs to hit the restart button on their season immediately. Luckily, there is no more opportune time than now. The team has not played a game since giving Buffalo their first win of the season on Sunday night and they do not take to the ice again until Friday when they play the Montreal Canadiens at home.

Sometimes, all of this downtime can be viewed as a bad thing. However, in the Ducks' case, it is an opportunity to head back to the drawing board and make some adjustments before things get out of hand.

After their contest against Montreal, Anaheim will take to the road next week to play Philadelphia, Florida, Tampa Bay, and Carolina. None of these games will be a cakewalk. If the Ducks cannot turn things around immediately, they will be looking at an opening month of hockey definitely worth forgetting.
