The Most Memorable Goals of the LA Kings 2015-16 Season

The summer is a bit slow, by nature.

But we can still reflect on the season that was and not get in stuck in a paralysis by analysis so to speak. (I mean who doesn't want to analyze Luke Schenn every day over summer!?)

Anyways, for a bit of a fun change, let's go through and re-live some of the cool highlights that were this year. There are so many to choose from that it is almost impossible to narrow down the five best goals or saves or hits that everyone would agree on. But we definitely have some really memorable goals of the 2015-16 season that we can revisit and enjoy.

Here goes, in no particular order.

Finally

It wasn't the prettiest goal. It was not the most meaningful given that it was in game No. 4 of the season. However, everything surrounding it was pretty...*Exhale* relieving.

The Kings had gone 0-3-0 to start the season, and fans were not pleased. The losses were in frustrating fashion, and it looked as though the Kings were going to be foiled again by the Minnesota Wild in Game No. 4. After Mikko Koivu eliminated a one goal lead in the third period, fans perhaps thought that Darcy Kuemper and the Wild would make it 0-4-0.

However, the Kings and Anze Kopitar had different plans as the team embarked on their first of what would be many 3v3 overtime victories.

In a moment that essentially summed up the glory of the new 3v3 format, an exhausted Anze Kopitar capitalized on an odd-man rush up ice and tucked home his first of the year, and the Kings first victory of the year. It was an absolute sigh of relief for a fanbase that was on pins and needles for the first several games of the season.

The Lucic Double Deflection

Was there a more Milan Lucic-esque goal this season? He jars loose the puck with a hit in the corner, and then gets the benefit of simply driving to the net. It was scored in such strange fashion, you couldn't originally tell if it hit one of two Islanders defensemen, both, just Lucic, or all three. Maybe it was Toffoli's goal, maybe it was Lucic's. It ended up being Lucic, but it certainly was a bizarre one.

The Gaborik Special

Marian Gaborik is definitely a few years away from his prime 40-goal scoring days. That doesn't mean there still aren't flashes of the amazing talent that Gaborik has. For an older guy, he can still scoot with the best of them.

A beautiful chip shot assist from Kopitar, sprung Gaborik out on a blistering move to the net from center red. It was finished with the cool elegance that you could only expect from a guy who has scored as much as Gaborik.

Carter Dish

Thanks to our NHL media overlords there is no embed on this one for video. Gif will have to suffice. Sorry!

Carter can score with the best of them, but sometimes he can be quite the nifty facilitator as well. On this play check out the no look behind the back pass right onto the tape of Kyle Clifford. That's as pretty as they get.

Kopitar Dirty Dangle

This might be the dirtiest goal of the year for the Kings. It was quite a game in general, as the defensive stalwart Kings were taking on the high flying offense of the Dallas Stars. However, the Kings flipped the script and unloaded a five goal shelling of the Stars, none prettier than this swashbuckling move by Kopitar.

Pearson Rifle

Sometimes a player makes a play that you look back and go, "Wow okay where did that come from?"

Granted, this OT winner against the Preds definitely happened due to the extra space, Pearson still fired an absolute missile to beat Rinne.

Given his rather modest goal scoring totals over his career, and a more workman, blue collar like approach to the game, it was nice to see an element of sniper immerge for the young winger.

Turn and Fire

Continuing on with the Pearson love...not only do we get a good look at the speed of Gaborik, we get a nice look at a really awesome and hard to pull off goal from Pearson. He fights off the Oiler, turns and one times an absolute gem to the top shelf. Not an easy play at all.

Right Place, Right Time

Sometimes you are good, and sometimes you are lucky. When you score 30 goals in a season, you are a little bit of both throughout the year. This one was of the lucky variety, but it is memorable nevertheless for the sheer weirdness of it.

Tic-Tac-Toe

What was it about the Kings and overtime this year? They scored some truly pretty goal in the extra frame. This one was of a particularly good variety, as the Kings cycle and rotation carved a tired Columbus defense up for a back door tap in by Martinez.

Extra fun for the Jim Fox "Ho!" at the end.

Kings Hockey

Maybe the most memorable goal of the entire season came in the Kings lone playoff victory in the Sharks series in the first round. This was vintage Dustin Brown. The huge hit sprung the Kings on the inevitable game winner. While the finish wasn't particularly special, it was the blue collar, hard hitting, play by Dustin Brown that created the whole thing. Can we see more of this in his future?

Those are just a few of the excellent goals we can recall from this 2015-16 season.
