With qualifying offers due at 5:00 PM today, the Senators have avoided making a decision on forward Alex Chiasson.

The Senators have at least gotten something back for the player they were prepared to let walk away without a qualifying offer, as they dealt Chiasson to the Flames for defenseman Patrick Sieloff.

Sieloff played 1 game for the Flames last year, scoring the game winner for a 1.00 GPG average. He was a second round pick of the Flames in 2012, and projects to be a minor league filler for the Sens, but getting something, even if it is a project, for a player that wasn't in their plans is better than nothing.

One Patrick in, one Patrick Out?

No official word yet on whether or not Patrick Wiercioch will have a similar fate or if he will indeed be allowed to walk, as the Senators are believed to have little interest in him at his qualifying offer of $2.7M for next season.
