Game Day: Ottawa @ Columbus - Looking for 4 after Hoffman downs Stars in OT

In almost a carbon copy of their win in Dallas a couple of weeks ago, the Senators stunned the Stars once again in overtime after allowing a late goal to the Stars to get them a point.

Tyler Seguin opened the scoring with a nice power play goal, just like he did in their March contest, and that held up until the third period before Marian Gaborik scored on the man advantage. Ottawa took their first lead of the game when Matt Duchene roofed a puck from in close over Ben Bishop.

Dallas evened the score and forced OT on a late goal from Tyler Pitlick, on a rebound after Craig Anderson over-committed to the original shot and found himself scrambling to get back into position.

Once again in overtime the trio of Duchene, Mike Hoffman and Erik Karlsson proved deadly as they combined for the OT winner, the second time they have done so in the past month.

Ottawa has won three straight for the first time since mid-October, and they will try to make it a season-high four straight with a win in Columbus tonight in the second half of yet another back to back.

That won't be an easy task as the Blue Jackets are among the hottest teams in the league with a league high 6 game active winning streak and winning 8 of their last 10.

Much like the Stars, who gave up a much needed point, the Blue Jackets are in a heated playoff race, as they are not only trying to get ahead of the Flyers for third in the Metropolitan Division but to keep ahead of the hard charging Panthers as well as the Devils to stay in the Wild Card position they now hold tenuously.

Cam Atkinson had the hat trick in the Blue Jackets' last game, a big 5-3 win over the Flyers on Thursday night in Philly.

They will have the advantage of an extra day's rest, but the Senators have shown that they can play spoiler and upend teams with something to play for, even if they have nothing to play for themselves but pride.
