What is Wrong With Ovechkin?

I got a few minutes before my businessing starts, so I figured I'd hit you up with a quick Capitals blog.

The Caps don't play again until after the Trade Deadline, and though they're the top team in the NHL, things are expected to be quiet.

The Capitals may add a depth piece, but I can't see them doing too much considering the depth of their lineup, their GM's public stance that trades may hurt chemistry more than they help the team.

The weekend was so-so. The Caps beat Edmonton in a surprisingly low scoring game, then they lost the Predators who seem to be coming on strong. (Now there is a team who should have traded for Ben Bishop).

As far as the trade deadline goes, who knows what will happen? GMs always say they aren't interesting in making moves, then they make them anyways.

My opinion is that chemistry is B.S - it's just something you can retroactively blame if you lose. The Capitals should worry about getting deeper and more talented, if at all possible.

They pretty much have to do some damage in the playoffs this year, so if they stand pat I'll be really surprised.

Vbrata of the Coyotes would actually be a smart depth addition.

In other news, after going 315 games with at least one shot, Ovechkin has three shotless games in his last seven.

This is the kind of mystery you wish Robert Stack was still around to tackle. You really hope this is just some kind of whacky anomaly because an injured Ovechkin will pretty much end this season before the Playoffs even begin.

Most likely it's just a weird fluke, or maybe even has to do with him resting up a little. God knows it's probably hard to get pumped for games in February when you've locked down the Playoffs already.

Either way, tomorrow should be fun.
