Kuznetsov Injured in Win

For the second night in a row, the Capitals destroyed and embarrassed the New York Islanders.

On Thursday, the Capitals won 7-3, and Burakovsky publicly said that their defense was easy to play against, setting up a soap-opera situation where the Islanders would be so offended and inspired that they'd push back and have the game of their lives.

Nope.

They sucked again. They were destroyed this time 6-3.

The Capitals scored 13 times over two nights, but Ovechkin, the league leader in goals with 42, did not score any.

It didn't really matter.

The Capitals didn't even really dominate either game, they just scored at will. The Islanders goaltending was terrible (but this is especially important because I'm playing a guy with Halek on his fantasy team, and I'm trying to make a late-season run).

The only bad thing is that Kuznetsov was injured. He went down and appeared to be holding one of his arms, maybe his wrist. The team has said nothing other than the frustrating, lame, annoying and ubiquitous upper-body injury.

Regardless, the Capitals now have a two point lead on the Penguins for the Metro title, and they also have a game in hand.

The Capitals next play on Monday against the suddenly terrible again Flyers. The playoffs are on lock now, and all that is left is to see who they'll play. Looks like New Jersey or Florida, if they can win the division, which is a hell of a lot better than winning the President's Trophy and being "rewarded" by having to play the Leafs then the Penguins.

You can bet every single Caps fan remains bitter about that.
