This happened a couple days ago, but I figured it was still worth a post, since the post draft hype has kind of died down on Dylan Strome.

Strome was selected 3rd in 2015, just one spot ahead of Mitch Marner. Marner had a monster rookie season for the Toronto Maple Leafs, scoring 19 goals and 61 points. He then followed up that season by being one of team Canada's best players at the Worlds this past spring.

Strome, was in the OHL.

In a move that probably didn't need to be made, the Coyotes sent Strome back to the OHL after seven games with the big club. Seven games in which he barely played, scored one assist and was a 44% Corsi player.

It is notable however that half his ice time was with a rookie defnseman (Chychrun) and Jamie McGinn and that he got notably better when he wasn't on the ice with them. Also, he only averaged 11 mins per game.

Regardless of if he got a fair shake, they sent him back to junior and he thrived. strome scored in insane 75 points in 35 games, including 22 goals.

This past Monday he scored 4 goals and added 3 assists in a Memorial Cup game which his team won 12-5. It was the Memorial Cup record.

Pretty sweet.

I think people have forgotten just how good of a prospect Dylan Strome is. There is every reason to suspect he's the best hockey player in the world not currently in the NHL, which he will be next season.

The Coyotes are stacked with prospects and will be much better this year than people think.

Strome should enter the 2017-18 season as the Calder favorite.
