If Evander Kane is available, the Coyotes need to do whatever it takes to acquire him.

Left wing is one of the hardest positions to fill with someone who can score.

And Evander Kane can score.

In fact, Kane is a way better player than people seem to think. It's incredible that he's even available, but supposedly Buffalo wants to move on.

Kane has long been a player for whom reputation questions have been an issue. In general, I think the NHL babies players and the fans/media act like anyone with a personality is some kind of criminal or jerk.

I don't know Evander Kane and I'm not saying his reputation is undeserved. What I am saying is that he's 25 now and he is crazy-talented and I'd be willing to give him a shot on my team.

Especially if that team was a desert locale that struggled to attract players.

The Coyotes have a crapload of young players and two 2017 first round draft picks. Their core of OEL, Chychrun, Strome and Keller is off-the-charts awesome and they are one day going to be a good team.

They can't rebuild forever, and Kane fits the age and profile of players they should be trying to acquire - i.e he's talented and he's 25.

A 1-2 combo of Domi-Kane on LW would, with maybe Perlini on the third line, give the Coyotes great positional depth. Kane also has a history of driving possession - he has been a + CF player relative to his team in every season except his sophomore year.

Having Kane on the first line would allow the team to more effectively deploy Domi who has talent but has not yet demonstrated the ability to drive possession in the NHL.

Kane also brings some grit and toughness the Coyotes could use.

He's an awesome player, he's fun to watch and he'd sell tickets. Also, because of history he may or may not be available at a discount.

The Coyotes could definitely use a player like Kane and I think it'd be prudent to find out what he'd cost them.

No matter what you think of Kane, one thing is that is undeniable is that he is very good at doing the hardest thing in the NHL: scoring goals at 5v5.
