Carlyle and Tippett: Two Peas in the Pod of Incompetence

Somehow the Coyotes beat the Ducks the other night, despite allowing the Ducks to attempt nearly 60 shots while they themselves didn't even crack 40. The actual shots that hit the net were even more telling, as the Ducks nearly doubled the Coyotes. Mike Smith, after single handedly keeping his team in the game, was forced from the game due to concussion protocol and the Coyotes held on.

After the game, Smith was pissed off. He needs to shut-up. One thing I absolutely can't stand is players bitching about the concussion thing. It's there for safety and if it stops even one guy from going back into the game and turning his brain into mush, then it's worth it even if 100 players are barred from going back in when they're fine, even if the team loses because of it.

Now, I know athletes don't exactly have all that much education, and that time learning how to play hockey at a professional level cuts into learning important critical thinking skills, but whether it's Connor McDavid or Mike Smith, these guys sound like idiots when they whine about the concussion protocol.

You missed one part of one game. Who cares? You have a million dollars and now you'll be able to spend it on something other than experimental Mexican brain rejuvenation therapy.

The Ducks are propped up by incredible goaltending that is hiding the decline of their two superstar forwards Perry and Getzlaf, and their inexplicably employed coach.

Take for example this move: Carlyle - who coaches like he grew up playing in an era that didn't believe in concussions - played Cam Fowler for 3 minutes more than he played Hampus Lindholm the other night.

Lindholm, a player almost on par with fellow Swede Ekman-Larsson, averages almost two minutes less per night than a player that isn't even fit to tie his skates.

For the record, teams should be circling the Ducks trying to get Lindholm like a pack of whatever animal feasts on underplayed defenseman.

The Ducks need to trade a defenseman because of the expansion draft. They have a GM who has a clear history of poor trades and a coach who doesn't properly value the best player on his roster.

Something has to give.

--------

Dave Tippett played star rookie and future Coyotes important player Christian Dvorak for under ten minutes at 5v5 the other night. He was 52%. Perlini played 10, Domi 11. Ryan ___ing White played almost 17. That is why it's so hard to watch this team. They have nothing to play for. Dvorak should be getting 20 minutes.

Ryan White should be in the AHL. With Dave Tippett.

The Coyotes most used 5v5 defenseman has to be OEL, right? Not if you're Dave Tippett. I once wrote a widely mocked blog suggesting Luke Schenn should be tried out on the top pairing. It was one of my stupidest ideas and people were right to mock me.

Luke Schenn:Top Pairing D man.

 There are no words.

Literally the first thing that popped in my head when i heard about Schenn signing with Arizona yesterday...

"I bet Tanner has him playing with OEL"

Sure enough  I lost it reading the blog, thanks
.

Tanner this is a guy being paid a salary that says "you really are a lousy player by NHL standards". You're putting too much thought into this.

Tanner....I haven't ever said this before, but I can't hold back any more....

You sir, are moronic. Laughable, actually.

Dave Tippitt is actually doing it. For real. OEL's CF% jumps by 3 percentage points when he gets away from Luke Schenn.

Anyways, this is one time when I wish I wasn't right. I agree, it was a very stupid idea. Once since implemented by the most unfirable coach in the NHL.

With moves like this, it's no surprise that the Coyotes will be going for their first back-to-back regulation wins of the season tonight, the 23rd of February. Against Chicago.

And there is no truth to the rumours that the Coyotes have hired Dr. Nick Riviera to be their new team physician.

Thanks
