Offer Friday

Fan Offers
Again, these offers are not my offers. They are the reader's words, and thoughts on what they think would be a good deal. Enjoy.

Conflict076

To LA- I.Kovalchuk
For
To NJ- J.Bernier, J.Williams, S.Voynov

My Thoughts- I'm actually really curious to see what people think of this one. As far as value goes, it's pretty decent. I still can't see the Devils moving their leading scorer and a big reason the Kings won was because of depth, so I can't see them wanting much to do with this deal either. I also wonder if Kovy would waive his NTC (I believe he has one) to go to the team he turned down a year ago.

Mathwil3

Derek Roy for Steve Ott

Roy gives the Stars an easy cap hit of $4 mill. Should be fully recovered from his injury so he will have his speed burst back which was lost for most of last season. He plays PP and PK. He is easily a 70pt centerman with Benn could be more.

Ott gives Buffalo what they need someone who will stand up to Lucic. He can play all over the lineup good at face-offs but is a downright bulldog and won't back down to anybody. He is signed for the next 2 years perfect for Buffalo. He can also play right wing to Grigorenko and make sure he is not abused as he learns the ropes.

My Thoughts- No, Ott is Vancouver's (lol). But seriously, I'm not sure what you expect out of Ott. He's not going to jump into the Sabres line-up and knock anyone who messes with them out. He's a tough guy for sure, but I highly doubt he would ever drop them with Lucic (Marchand Yes, but Lucic no). Roy is a good fit in Dallas and the trade would kind of work for both teams (Both teams may need to include something else).

Well that's all the offers I have this week. By doing offer Friday I've seen a few of the same names popping up. Those names are Raymond, Hemsky and Roy. I honestly think that would make a pretty decent line. We could call it the "All Castoff Line". What do you think?

Bure

I know I'm a bit late to the dance, but I have to congratulate Pavel Bure on finally getting into the Hall of Fame. In my opinion, Bure is the most electrifying player to ever play the game (and not just in Vancouver). He's also the best Russian to ever play the game, and the best pure goal scorer to ever play the game. Since a Canuck is now in the Hall, I may now have a reason to head back East and check it out sometime.

Schneider/Lu

Cory Schneider was locked up to a 3yr/12 million dollar contract extension yesterday. This makes me wonder if Gillis is close to deal, or whether he is ready to move forward with two great goalies if the market isn't there. While having just over 9 million in your goaltending is a bit much, I still can't see Gillis just giving away an asset like Luongo. If the Canucks young talent like Gaunce, Schroeder, Jensen, Corrado, Connauton, and possibly Schultz are ready to play next year, perhaps Gillis feels he has room to keep both and he moves players like Booth, Alberts, and Ballard for nothing instead.

It seems to me, that if you're just going to dump a player to make cap room, dumping Albarts and Ballard is equal to dumping Luongo. And I'm pretty sure if you dump those two, you don't have to worry about looking like a moron when they are in the running for major awards and playing in the All Star Game next year.

I believe that 9 million can work if the young players are ready. Is it an ideal situation? No. But it can work.

Matt Bradley

Bradley was placed on waivers yesterday by the Florida Panthers. I've always loved the way Bradley plays and if the Canucks can be sure he has fully recovered from his concussion, he is the type of player they need on the fourth line. He was on my wish list last year and a player like him could have really helped in the LA series. If the Canucks were granted permission to run a physical on him and he passed, I would pick him up for nothing right now.

Five Hole For Food

Five Hole For Food is coming to a town near you this summer. For those of you that don't know, the concept was brought forward by some friends in Vancouver, who decided they would travel the country setting up street hockey games. The price to play in the game is a can of food or donation to the local food bank.

To date Five Hole for Food has raised over 70,000 pounds of food for food banks and is continuing the fight against hunger all over North America!
