In this edition of the hotstove, we rank the top-5 goaltenders in the Eastern Conference.

Todd Cordell

1. Carey Price (MTL)

Price showed his knee was just fine last year as he posted a .923 save percentage over 62 starts and was a big reason the Canadiens claimed the Atlantic Division title.

2. Braden Holtby (WSH)

Holtby has posted a .922 save percentage or better in three consecutive seasons while winning 40+ games in each. He's one of the most talented, and consistent, goaltenders in the league.

3. Sergei Bobrovsky (CBJ)

Following an off year, Bobrovsky rebounded nicely posting a .931 save percentage and winning his second Vezina Trophy. You could certainly argue he was the best player on a 50-win team.

4. Matt Murray (PIT)

What he's done over his first couple years in the league is nothing short of remarkable. The sample size isn't large, but it's pretty hard to argue with a .925 save percentage and a pair of Stanley Cups. If he has another strong year as an undisputed starter in Pittsburgh he'll probably move up.

5. Cory Schneider (NJ)

He's coming off a down season but he owns a .922 career save percentage -- equal to Holtby's and higher than Price's -- and has posted excellent numbers in six of his seven NHL seasons. I'm willing to bet he bounces back.

Honorable mention: Henrik Lundqvist. He's still a guy I think a lot of but over the last two seasons, his save percentage has dipped from .922 to .910. Age may finally be starting to catch up with him.

Peter Tessier

This list should be less controversial than the others, right? Probably not, but here it goes.

#1- Carey Price- let's be honest the Canadiens live and die by Price as would any other team if they had him. Is there some one better at any given moment- sure but over a season Price is tops.

#2- Sergei Bobrovsky- Could he be number one- yes and there's nothing wrong with that. Maybe he should be a tied for number one.

#3- Braden Holtby- Great in the regular season right? No he's great all the time and so many teams wish they could have him or some one like him.

#4- Henrik Lundqvist- Yes he had a down year but the guy has been a model of consistency for years and would anyone bet against him bouncing back?

#5- Cory Schneider- Another guy with a down year but he can play on my team any time. Guy has mad game and seems exiled to never be in the spotlight again.
