For me it is Evgeny Kuznetsov's lack of offense.

The Caps are controlling 56% of the shot attempts and scoring chances with him on the ice at 5 v 5 so he's not playing bad - far from it - but he has managed just two points in nine games thus far. He hasn't found the scoresheet at even-strength, either.

After the regular season he had I expected him to continue to pile up the points come playoff time but that obviously hasn't been the case. Again, he is doing a good job of driving play but if he doesn't start producing - and fast - the Capitals will be hitting the links sooner than later.

Whether defending champs or top teams failed I think the biggest disappointment has to be the Panthers. However, let's phrase disappointment correctly, it's not that they underachieved or were disappointing in their effort but it's disappointing that they did not move on. Don't take that as an insult Islanders fans, it's not. Look at the issue as this: there were some great stories with the Panthers.

Jagr being one, Luongo being another and the youth on that team finding it's groove being the cherry on top after all three helped put the Panthers into the post season. While Anaheim may have been disappointing due to their odds as a cup favourite and the same with LA, for the fans that require a bit more of a story it's rather disappointing that the Panthers did not make it further, they were going to be the people's team.

Hard to say there have been any true disappointments. LA and Chicago both had problems down the stretch, so while those results are "unexpected" and perhaps disappointing they both showed cracks in the foundation prior to the postseason AND ran into two really good teams.

Anaheim has to take the cake form a disappointment standpoint. Miraculous run of a second half. Another division title. Go down 2-0 in the series but storm back to go up 3-2..only to let the chronic game sevensies get to them AGAIN. On top of that they fired BB afterwards, who really was not the problem in at least my eyes. That, altogether, had to be a really disappointing way to end yet ANOTHER season.

James Tanner

For me it was Anaheim firing Boudreau. He is a coach who -according to ex-hockey buzz and current TSN guy Travis Yost - is worth the same amount of wins over a season as a top six scoring winger.

It's ridiculous that as far as the sport has come in analytic analysis that a guy still has to be fired because of the random outcome of a single game.

A close second is the bizarre and incomprehensible application of disciplinary rules w/r/t to suspensions.

As far as teams go, I would have liked to see the Ducks win, their defense is really fun to watch.

John Jaeckel

My biggest disappointment—in terms of a team I expected more from—would be the Kings bowing out in Round 1. But that's why they play the games. And in that series, we found out the Sharks under Pete DeBoer are for real. I would lump Chicago in here, but i didn't see them getting past Round 2 anyway.
