In terms of making the biggest impact, it's hard to go against Kevin Shattenkirk as the best free agent signing. He's averaged more than 50 points per 82 games played over the last six seasons and has been the league's most efficient PP quarterback over the last four. I thought the price was fair, which you rarely see in free agency, and the New York Rangers did really well to keep the term down.
In terms of value, there are a handful of options but I'm going with Scott Hartnell and the one-year, $1 million contract he signed with Nashville.
Over the last two seasons, Hartnell is tied for 41st in 5v5 scoring and ranks ahead of notables such as Corey Perry, Rickard Rakell, Patrice Bergeron, Jonathan Toews, Derek Stepan and Ryan Johanson while seeing less ice than each of them.
Hartnell is not remotely flashy but he's still an effective player and is a bargain for Nashville at $1 million.

I like the Nick Bonino signing. The Preds moved on from Colin Wilson and replaced him with Bonino. Wilson has had every chance to succeed and thrive with Nashville but never did. For the same money the Preds get a more experienced player and hopefully a catalyst to their offence.
