It's possible, perhaps even likely, Phil Kessel is traded by the Pittsburgh Penguins this summer. In this edition of the hotstove, we share our thoughts on which team would be the best fit for his services.

If the Penguins decide to trade Kessel, the Kings seem like a natural fit.
They could use more speed and scoring on the wing. Kessel would certainly provide them with that.
The Kings are a veteran team and the vast majority of their best players are on the wrong side of 30. If they're going to push for another Stanley Cup, they need to do so now. Adding a guy like Kessel would move them in the right direction.
Kessel does have an eight-team no trade list but given LA is a perennial playoff team, a warm weather team, and his good friend Dion Phaneuf plays there, I very much doubt the Kings would be on it.
*If* Pittsburgh decides to move Kessel, the Kings seem like a natural fit.

Here’s the thing with Kessel if you are a team that wants him - put him in a position to be a goal scorer as his primary use. Don’t try to change and mould him into a system that does not use his biggest asset - goal scoring.
I go back to teams like LA, Detroit and Montreal but that does not mean they would make the best trade partners or use Phil for what Phil is. I sometimes wonder if Calgary would deal a defence asset for a player like Kessel but that seems like a long shot idea. Maybe the Blues? It seems though the cap has to fit and so does the role of the player - if it happens. It could a be a wide open market.
