After losing their first preseason game last night by a score of 3-2, the Montreal Canadiens will host the Washington Capitals tonight at the Bell Centre. After five months of a painstakingly long offseason for Habs fans, they’re all of a sudden treated to the luxury of choosing between watching tonight’s squad or Team Canada take on Team Europe at the World Cup of Hockey.

Here are today’s quick hits:

- Mikhail Sergachev just received the green light to start skating from the Habs’ medical staff. No word yet on just how soon he’ll see some game action:

- J-F Chaumont of Journal de Montreal on Andrei Markov and Alexei Emelin undergoing medicals on Wednesday and hitting the ice on Thursday:

- Tonight’s lineup against the Capitals includes future fan favorites Andrew Shaw and Alexander Radulov, as well as Al Montoya’s first start as a Hab and the improved Michael McCarron :

- In case you missed it, Arrturi Lehkonen made one heck of an impression last night, notching 9 shots on net (!) while registering four hits in a little over 17 minutes of ice-time:

- Also, Charlie Lindgren with what is surely the play of the night:

- Over in Toronto, the World Cup of Hockey resumes with its best-of-three final between Team Europe and Team Canada :

- Shea Weber was the best defenseman during the semi-finals against Team Russia with 6 shots on goal, a +3 rating as well as 22:41 of ice-time. Along with his new Canadiens’ teammate Carey Price, they’ll kick off the tournament’s final tonight with the hopes of bringing home glory. The otherworldly goaltender has been stellar, despite the fact that he still looks a little rusty by uncharacteristically dropping to his knees rather quickly while facing shots. Still, his .948 save percentage should allow Habs fans to breathe a collective sigh of relief. If he keeps this up, he’ll be back in Vezina form this season…

- But not before facing his arch-nemesis and former teammate Jaroslav Halak, whose .947 save percentage is second-best to Price’s. Okay, maybe they’re not “arch-nemeses” per se, but a Price versus Halak story is always worth checking out by clicking here.
