In the end, Jimmy Vesey could not resist the NY Rangers.

Vesey signed a max contract to play for the Blueshirts.

The Buffalo Sabres acquired Vesey's rights from the Nashville Predators in exchange for a third-round pick at this year's draft, knowing the young forward could still choose to become a free agent on August 16.

During four years at Harvard, the 6-foot-3, 203-pound North Reading, Massachusetts, native had 144 points in 128 games.

My top three teams for Vesey were the Sabres, Devils and Rangers

Once again, Chris Drury is responsible for breaking the hearts of Buffalo Sabres fans.
Drury, the former Buffalo captain is now player personnel director for the Rangers. Drury's agent during his playing days was Peter Fish, one of Vesey's agents.

Last month, I wrote about Drury and his agent provocateur role in the Vesey Scramble.

Hi immy Vesey’s agent has told WEEI.com that there are still “a handful of teams in the mix” at the moment. Vesey is is in the process of selecting his NHL team.

A final Vecision will be made public by Saturday.

Peter Fish said the Boston Bruins are one of the teams still in the running. There are other unidentified teams in said list as well.

Buffalo is still in the lead pack.

Fish also said that media reports saying that Vesey has chopped his list down to the NY Rangers and Chicago Blackhawks are “not true.”

So, you're saying there's a chance?

Vesey is expected to make his final team selection today or tomorrow.

Vesey became UFA on August 16. The Buffalo Sabres had held his exclusive negotiating rights since trading with Nashville in Late June.

Vesey has met with the Sabres, Bruins, Blackhawks, Devils, Rangers, Islanders, Penguins and Mape Leafs.

I expect that Vesey and his agents are in a marathon meeting to review the deluge of details that were presented by the eight suitors earlier this week.
