Dammit!!

Stick a fork in another NHL salary cap tracking website.

The Las Vegas Hangovers have hired General Fanager creator Tom Poraszka as a Hockey Operations Analyst. Poraszka created General Fanager, a popular salary cap tracking application.

Poraszka founded General Fanager in 2015. General Fanager was a website I visited upwards of 100 times a week. No lie. I used the site for research purposes.

General Fanager made it easy for me to track NHL teams and their salary cap spending, player contracts, UFA, RFA, PTO and more.

I found General Fanager immediately following the closure of CapGeek.com, which closed down after its founder Matthew West succumbed to a battle with cancer.

I will be switching my allegiance to CapFriendly.com.

How about you?

Check out Jimmy Vesey's first NHL goal.

The Edmonton Oilers have recalled goalie Laurent Brossoit from the AHL to replace veteran tender Jonas Gustavsson, who suffered a head injury sustained last night in a collision with teammate Adam Larsson.

At 9:22 of the second period of Sunday night's Oilers-Sabres game, Buffalo captain Brian Gionta tipped a Jake McCabe point shot in from in front of Oilers starting goalie Cam Talbot. The goal was reviewed, first for a high-stick, and then was challenged for goaltender interference. The call on the ice stood, and the home team found themselves down two goals again.

Talbot was yanked from the game and was replaced by veteran Jonas Gustavsson.

Gustavsson was injured with 3:02 remaining in the second period when Larsson was defending a 2-on-1 when he skated backwards and smashed his butt into the head of Gustavsson.

The TV replay revealed that The collision caused Gustavsson's head and neck to bend awkwardly as a result of the collision. After a long delay, the big Swede struggled to stand up on his own. After a brief negotiation, Gustavsson was allowed to stay in the game.

However, moments later, Talbot would replace Gustavsson as the goalie carousel continued. Gustavsson would not return to the game or come to the bench for the third.

Gustavsson is now the poster child for the NHL’s new concussion spotting protocol, and though he was initially left in the game, he was correctly excused from the game later in the period when a spotter over ruled the Oilers decision to let Guatavsson play on after the goal mouth crash.

Gustavsson to my naked eye suffered a head injury, however, he shook off Oilers trainers that Came to his assistance.

If you follow me in Twitter @SabresBuzz You know that I was vehement about Gustavsson being yanked and then sent to the quiet room for concussion evaluation. It didn't happen because Gustavsson clearly told the trainers what they wanted to hear.

Moments after the head injury, Guatavsson appeared to be wobbly and off balance. He was then removed from the game.

Concussions and brain trauma are no longer a blow off subject inside the NHL. Thirty NHL are being held to new higher standards. The days of letting guys play after they've been dinged are long gone.

I applaud the correct enforcement of the new concussion spotter protocols.

It's no longer the player's choice to leave a game after a head injury.

There is a new level of checks and balances to keep all parties honest.

or stubborn enough to think they

The NHL is taking precautions to protect its players against CTE and other brain injuries.
