Has there ever been a more dreadful day in Montreal Canadiens team history?

The team has announced that two of it's stars are done likely for teh rest of the season.

Habs fans will be forced to live without team leaders Carey Price and Shea Weber. Canadiens head coach Claude Julien announced the Price injury during his pregame press conference. The team issued a statement on the Weber situation. The veteran defenseman will undergo surgery to repair a tear in a tendon in his left foot and will miss the remainder of the 2017-18 season.

Price suffered a concussion on Tuesday night in Philadelphia. He was struck on the head by a shot off the stick of Flyers defenseman Shayne Gostisbehere. I watched the game live. Why wasn't Price removed from that game by independent concussion spotters? He was allowed to continue playing even with a head trauma. The Habs were leading 2-1 when Jake Voracek scored with 1:25 remaining in regulation place to force OT. Voracek then beat Price again just 1:26 into the overtime session to give the Flyers the 3-2 win. Price didn't practice on Wednesday as he was getting treatment for his ailment.

Recalled on an emergency basis from the Laval Rocket on Wednesday, Charlie Lindgren will back up Antti Niemi for Thursday night's game against the New York Rangers.

With 52 points, the Habs are tied with teh Ottawa Senators for 15th place in in the Eastern Conference. The Buffalo Sabres are in last place in the East with 45 points.

Habs GM Mrc Bergevin is a tank commander now. Don't be at all surprised when Bergevin trades away Max Pacioretty, Tomas Plekanec and other Habs in the days leading up to the NHL trade deadline on Monday at 3pm EDT.

Bergy is joining the #FreeFallinForDahlin #SuckForTkachuk #FunkyColdZadina #Svechnikov movements

Montreal now finds itself near the pole position for the top pick in the NHL Draft Lottery, which may cause envious, malevolent feelings from incumbent tank teams Buffalo, Edmonton and Arizona
