When Buffalo Sabres power forward Evander Kane turned himself in to Buffalo police Friday morning, the National Hockey League was well aware of the goings on. If an NHL player gets into trouble, the NHL knows about it.

The Vancouver native has been charged with misdemeanor criminal trespass and five non-criminal offenses.

The NHL is monitoring the Kane case very closely. According to Darren Dreger, the NHL will not be taking any disciplinary action against Kane at this time.

Kane was arrested on June 24 following an incident at a Buffalo dance club.

Kane allegedly put his hands on four people (three women and one male bouncer.)

According to one report, Kane was playing the role of "celebrity bartender" at a Buffalo bar on the night in question.

NHL Deputy Commissioner Bill Daly spoke with Dreger, and says that Kane will be directed to the NHL/NHLPA Behavioral Health professionals for evaluation and counseling if deemed necessary.

The Sabres issued a statement Friday regarding the arrest stating they are aware of the incident and will not speak further.
